This is a senior system architect position within a development team currently focusing on home networking and entertainment devices. The candidate will be responsible for functional specifications, design documentation, coding and unit testing of prototypes of distributed services platforms.
Knowledge of consumer and networking markets is highly recommended.
Accountability
• Member of the engineering team to focus on service platform development
• Develop functional specifications and design documents
• Deliver software module specification including testing and debugging
• Integration and testing with the overall specified system architecture
• Assume leadership and coaching role in the engineering team
• Participate in technology advisory, technical research and due diligence as required |

• Proven track record (with 7+ years experience) in designing and building secure, scalable, and customer adopted applications and service architectures
• Deep, hands-on knowledge of complex distributed systems - software services, database design, server platform development and enterprise infrastructure products
• Practical skills covering full development cycle from technology prototypes through release/support, including:
o C, C++, Java...
o Scripting languages - Python, Perl…
o Source code management, debuggers, profilers, build and QA tools
o OO Modeling - UML and design patterns
o Middleware, Relational Databases and Distributed Computing technologies
o Linux platform environment and development
• Pragmatic, self-motivated, flexible with great desire to learn
• Ability to multitask
• Delivers excellent results, both independently and as part of diverse global virtual teams
• Comfortable with ambiguity/imperfect knowledge
• Excellent written and oral communications – adept with modern communication tools
• Complete fluency in written and spoken English
• Interest/experience in technology advisory, technical research and due diligence
• Staying abreast of, and influencing, industry trends
• Experience in the following is a distinct advantage
• Agile development and planning
• Embedded system architectures – ARM, MIPS, etc.
• Consumer devices and networking – STB, DVB, UPnP, DLNA…
• Transactional and/or Billing systems |
