Ocean Transportation oversees the Corporation's bulk ocean freight business. This involves managing the bulk shipping risks and opportunities both for Cargill's worldwide commodity activity (cargoes such as fertilizer, salt, grains, sugar, steel, crude oil, petroleum products, vegetable oils) and for a large number of third party customers in the mineral, agricultural and petroleum sectors. OT is one of the world's largest bulk charterers.
As a member of the OT's Accounting Team, the Trading Accountant works closely with all functional areas (trading desks, admin & vessels operation). From a fiduciary perspective, the jobholder is responsible for the management and financial accounting of a vessels portfolio and corresponding voyages. The person reports to the Panamax Accounting Supervisor.
Description of Tasks
Account P&L estimations by vessels and voyages
Keep vessel/voyage accounting current
Analyse and reconcile open voyage estimations with critical scepticism to ensure P&L is correct. Challenge and verify information received from other departments
Review on a monthly basis significant provisions with vessel and admin operators
Finalize proactively voyages to keep the unfinalized voyages within 90 days at the lowest level
Accountable for different balance sheet positions, regular follow-up, month-end reconciliation
Help on-demand the 5 trading P&L accountants in their daily/monthly tasks
Participate in projects linked to the process improvement |
