Financial Reporting Accounting Manager
This position is a key member of the Financial Reporting and Accounting function responsible for high quality financial accounting and reporting. The primary objective is to support the Financial Reporting and Accounting manager in addressing complex accounting issues that have a material impact on the company's financial statements.
This opportunity will suit a recently qualified accountant and is an ideal first step into industry for an individual keen to pursue a rewarding career with a true global company. This is a high profile role with interesting and challenging work combined with a high level of responsibility, giving significant exposure to senior members of the JTI Finance community including the Corporate Controller and the group external auditors. Working across JTI departments is essential. Areas of responsibility :

1. Implement a robust integrated analytical review tool for conducting the review of the consolidated financial reporting (balance sheet, below OCC) for the combined new JTI. The end product should provide the Financial Controller and Corporate Controller with a clear understanding of the significant accounting matters faced by the business and the impact to the financial results. This project will require a significant investment of time and coordination with both the business and Corporate Financial Planning & Analysis.
2. Timely execute all Japanese SOX controls that are owned by the Financial Controller and the Corporate Controller. For each control all related evidence should be documented in the SAM (significant accounting matters) database. Controls include both Company Level Controls and Financial Reporting & Close Controls.
3. Reporting and audit issues. The role is responsible for investigating and following up issues that are submitted from markets, entities, JT, functions (e.g. Global Supply Chain) etc. and significant audit issues identified by the external auditors. Follow up procedures and appropriate actions are identified and appropriate feedback to the requestor should be reviewed by the Financial Reporting Manager before submission to ensure issues are not repeated.
4. Support Financial Reporting Manager to provide guidance to JTI management on specific material accounting issues that require application of significant professional judgment. This will require writing clear and structured accounting memos and ensuring they are both agreed and executed with senior management and the external auditors.
5. Take full ownership of significant audit issues identified by the external auditors ensuring follow up procedures are agreed with the Financial Reporting Manager and appropriate actions are taken with the respective business functions and full resolution is agreed with all parties to ensure the issue is not repeated. The incumbent is required to ensure audit issues are non-recurring and in cases where an immediate solution is not possible the audit risk is appropriately managed.
6. Required to support significant accounting projects such as IFRS transitions and Purchase Price Accounting of any possible future acquisitions. This will require a strong ability to research accounting guidance, strong reporting writing skills and ability to take ownership of assigned sections and make clear and concise conclusions.
Qualifications: Bachelors Degree
Apprenticeship (Chartered Accountant)

Languages: English : Speak / Write Fluently

University degree, Chartered accountant. Public accounting (at least 1 yrs post qualified experience).
Fluent in English. Strong Excel skills is a must. Knowledge of SAP is preferable.
Ability to:
- link business needs to US GAAP and IFRS principles
- understand how business transactions are captured in SAP (or similar accounting system)
- understand why is it important to have accurate and consistent financial data
- work with limited supervision.
- communicate with non native English speakers
