Within the leadership team of Group Research we are looking for a high level individual for the position of Global Head Emerging Technologies. This person reports directly to the President of Group Research . The position develops, gains approval for, and implements strategy to access external innovation through in-licensing or M&A deals for 3-5 emerging technology focus areas in support of President Group Research in partnership with Divisional CEOs and members of the Corporate Executive Committee. Emerging Technologies are defined as Healthcare Industry transforming technologies that have a potential impact across Roche Pharma and Diagnostics. The ET head leads a set of projects that are achieved in close partnerships with different parts of the organization (including Pharma functions such as PR, PD, PP, as well as CF and Diagnostics).
• A demonstrated background in creating, implementing, and managing strategic agendas for a top executive audience is critical.
• Experience of developing & delivering Executive level analysis of how to access external innovation through in-licensing or M&A deals:
• Scientific strategy in the bio-medical field
• Operational implications / governance issues
• Experience in Project Leadership or Project Management with a strong scientific, financial and business development background is essential.
• The candidate should also have strong negotiating and interpersonal skills, and a proven record of managing through influence.
• The ability to work in a complex matrix environment will be critical.
• Deal structure
• Financial analysis (Portfolio analysis, P&L impact, Option analysis)
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills and high level of IT competency.
• Experience in managing people from different cultural backgrounds is strongly preferred
