Legal WWDF Director
The Legal Director WWDF is the principal point of contact and resource for all WWDF markets, and the principal communicator to WWDF markets, on Legal issues and policies. This position is responsible for assessing the Operating Environment across the worldwide WWDF business, anticipating and guarding against legal risks facing the company, ensuring the compliance of WWDF activities with the current markets legislation and providing legal support to WWDF markets.

Areas of responsibility
1. Manage the legal function to ensure legal assistance for WWDF General Manager and WWDF organization.
2. Ensure the compliance of internal legal documents with the legislation and internal policy. Update local policy and procedure as necessary.
3. Anticipate and guard against legal risks facing the company. Assess business strategic planning against legal risks.
4. Represent JTI's legal interest and develop relationship with legal organizations in close cooperation with WWDF Corporate Affairs function.
5. Prepare or review all WWDF agreements and contracts to JTI is a party including distribution, commercial and consulting agreements. Guide related departments for issues related to such agreements. Prepare or review opinions, correspondence and other documents related to complex/sensitive matters. Develop and recommend company position on legal issues.
6. Managing litigation cases and providing litigation guidance by working closely with the respective function involved in the process and the external lawyers.
7. Develop effective and dynamic working relationships with local market-based Legal officers worldwide, with the HQ-based Legal and other functional teams, as well as members of the World Wide Duty Free’s management team at HQ and in regional offices, in order to develop a broad understanding of the WWDF’s business operations and commercial strategies.
8. Supports Corporate Affairs function in the interpretation of legislation and in defining relevant strategies.

Legal degree required. The candidate should be articulate, cultured, and well presented. Solid interpersonal skills and cultural sensitivity, as well as a results-oriented outlook, are critical requirements.

Minimum 5 years legal experience within a corporation or a law firm as in house counsel. Excellent understanding of the legal system especially in tobacco highly desirable.

Fluency in languages other than English is desirable but not essential. Mastery of the MS Office suite and related programs is essential.
