CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
Strategy
• Contribute to continuing development of the Bank’s business strategy
• Interact with other senior managers on the development of strategy and other management issues associated with growing the bank
• Develop and apply a coherent business plan, understood by your reporting line, and ensure successful implementation
• Set and achieve agreed financial targets by development of existing and new referred relationships
Leading
• Lead the unit in response to revenue and relationship growth which is orientated towards delivering high quality banking and investment services
• Manage the unit to ensure motivation and commitment of staff
• Manage personnel issues associated with the business area – recruitment, appraisal, motivation, career development, performance management
• Set standards consistent with a world-class private bank
• Set targets and monitor performance on an ongoing basis
Business
• Assist the team by meeting prospects and clients on a regular basis with a view to establishing PBRS relationships and providing Group solutions as appropriate
• Assist the team in the development of new products and services
• Monitor knowledge and know how of relevant products and services available from Group sources and elsewhere in order to provide the best solutions for clients and maximize revenues for PBRS, GPB and the Group
• Develop network of Group and External professional contacts with the aim of introducing new business, enhancing technical knowledge and promoting the good name of the Group
• Act as a good ambassador and work towards the best interests of PBRS and the Group as a whole in all dealings both internally and externally
Audit, regulation and risk
• Introduce and maintain HSBC audit, control and compliance standards including the timely implementation of outstanding audit points
• Set your business area organisation to ensure the Bank’s position is protected in terms of Credit, Compliance and Legal issues and that the Group and Regulatory Guidelines are adhered to, strictly and in spirit, such that the reputation and goodwill of the Group is protected
• Retain ultimate responsibility for adherence to the Group and Regulatory guidelines
• Monitor reporting of all relevant contacts with clients by using official reporting tools in respect with regulations
• Ensure regular monitoring of the type of transactions and activities is in place in your business area in order to comply with regulations and HSBC internal control standards. |

• Ability to develop and maintain strong cultural and market awareness
• Good understanding of economic, business, tax, property, legal and others relevant matters to a standard that is commensurate with the exacting nature of the existing and target client base
• Credit skills – ideally obtained in an area dealing with HNW individuals/Business Banking
• IT Skills – knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications
• Banking/Investment products – clear understanding of the major products/services available in the private banking industry
• Building and maintaining relationships – within HSBC Private Bank, the Group and professional groups externally
• University graduate or other professional qualifications e.g. Chartered Accountant or CFA.
• Multi-lingual (minimum fluent in English and French)
