A vacancy exists for a Phage Display Scientist in the Protein Engineering and Antibody Technologies Department (PEAT) at the Geneva Research Centre, which focuses on the discovery and development of fully human therapeutic antibodies against neurodegenerative and autoimmune disease targets. The successful candidate will work on several therapeutic antibody programs from early discovery to development stage. Main Tasks & Responsibilities : Design and execute target-specific selection strategies using phage display antibody libraries Library panning and screening Responsible for expression, purification and biochemical/biophysical characterization of FAbs Develop new protocols addressing different target classes Design and implement affinity maturation strategies Keep up to date with current phage display technology innovations, and advance phage display technologies within his/her own group |

PhD in molecular biology, biochemistry, biotechnology or biological sciences Fluency in English Professional Skills & Experience : A minimum of 5 years postdoctoral experience in an academic or industrial setting Strong background in molecular biology Experience in antibody phage display technology and affinity maturation strategies are essential Experience with high throughput screening methodologies, automated systems for the multi-round workflow of picking, re-arraying of positives and 'cherry picking' of unique clones, antibody sequence analysis tools and database management is required Experience in the design and building of new phage display libraries is desirable Familiarity with techniques for biochemical and biophysical characterization of FAbs and IgGs (ELISA, FACS, Biacore, DSC, HPLC, Kinexa ) would be useful. Previous experience in the preclinical development of therapeutic antibodies is desirable Personal Skills & Competencies : Highly motivated and pro-active Able to multi-task and work to strict deadlines Excellent organizational and communication skills Good team player Aptitude to work in a pluri-cultural environment |
