The role of this position is to ensure the Company brand portfolio is effectively supported and evolved with a strategic approach to portfolio management, in line with the Company’s mission in order to accelerate growth and improve bottom line profit long-term. The role's scope covers the Company’s brand portfolio strategy on a Global, Regional and Market level. In collaboration with key internal and external stakeholders, the job holder will manage initiatives to continuously maximize the effectiveness and efficiency of the Company’s portfolio by managing the development of processes and tools that improve strategic portfolio management and planning capabilities specifically in the areas of: Brand Portfolio Strategy and Planning, Marketing Investment Effectiveness, Portfolio Optimization (Rationalization and Consolidation), Competitive Scenario Planning. Areas of responsibility 1.Brand Portfolio Strategy & Planning Engage Headquarters, Regions, and Markets through dialog, assessments and workshops (primarily) to deliver effective market level portfolio strategies with supporting strategic initiatives and action plans aligned amongst all key stakeholders. Workshop responsibilities: • Lead workshops ensuring quality and value add, and provide guidance for them to become the basis for shaping the Market’s Annual and Strategic Plan (A&SP) • Provide pre-workshop assessments of market plans, portfolio prioritization, and environmental dynamics. • Assist facilitation of workshops by engaging management and directing discussions to achieve alignment on strategic initiatives that support market objectives. • Follow up with management on agreed action plans. 2.Competitive Scenario Planning Lead the Competitive Intelligence role from a Strategic Consumer & Trade Marketing perspective by liaising with support functions to derive the strategic implications for JTI. Provide support to Brand Groups and Regions to assist strategy formulation. Workshops: develop competitive scenario planning capabilities in markets to improve their proactively and agility to respond to changing environments Case Studies: collaborate with Marketing Intelligence to prepare and present competitive case studies strategically significant to JTI 3.Portfolio Optimization Engage Headquarters, Region, and Market stakeholders to provide tools and support that enable the effective optimization of the brand portfolio. Optimization support to be focused in 2 key areas: Brand Migration and SKU (Stock Keeping Units) Rationalization 4.Continuously Upgrade Portfolio Tools Work in close co-operation with the Director, Brand Portfolio & Strategy to develop and implement tools which provide highly competitive marketing insight and support to the markets to achieve the best possible Portfolio strategy. 5.If applicable, comply with the Company’s Policies & Procedures in Purchase Request process and perform J-SOX controls as specified in the J-SOX Global Reference Model. University degree in Business / Marketing (or comparable studies), MBA preferred • 5-7 years of solid FMCG experience in Marketing, Sales or consulting (Tobacco, Liquor, Food, etc), international exposure /experience. Ideally with the following supporting experience: • 2-4 years solid Brand Management experience • Global or Regional headquarters experience in Marketing • Fluent English. Other languages a plus • Excellent Excel skills • Proven leadership skills with the ability to motivate and challenge others in a productive manner • Effective at clearly and convincingly communicating internally and externally - adept at working across functions and levels to positively influence behavior / action. Able to anticipate, understand and address the needs of others. • Strong interpersonal skills which enable facilitation of cross-functional teams and ability to motivate others. • Strong strategic thinking and analytical skills. • Entrepreneurial spirit with the ability to effectively influence key organizational players based on internal and external knowledge. • Energetic and proactive - track record of focusing on what is possible and making it happen with a sense of urgency. • Embraces change and innovation in the way the Company does business.
