Reporting to the International Managing Director, the UK Country Manager is responsible for the development, growth, long term profitability and strategic direction of Shopping.com UK, with a remit to achieve aggressive growth target whilst managing local market differences, constraints and opportunities. Responsible for all day to day financial (P&L), operational, HR, legal and team management the country manager deals with all aspects of the UK business. The Country Manager will be evaluated on the following: Revenue- and Contribution targets, growth of the Shopping.com business in UK, creation and development of a highly professional and effective local organization, working with cross functional teams in UK, Europe and in the US, managing outside relationships to accomplish goals (PR, marketing communications etc), communication skills, attention to detail, resourcefulness, goal oriented attitude.
The candidate will need to have a strategic view while willing to “roll his/her sleeves up”. The candidate should have a good balance of positive entrepreneurial slant and solid business experience in the UK market. Drive direction, strategy and implementation on:
- Sales: Work closely with the Head of Sales to ensure the high quality of the Shopping.com merchant network and help grow selection in key product categories. Drive adoption of Shopping.com content (Distributed Commerce) on third party pulisher sites - HR: Full responsibility for recruitment, performance management, organizational development and all HR tasks for the UK based staff. - Financial: PnL ownership. Monthly Operations reporting with European Team and liaison with other European offices and US based personnel as required - Marketing: Define the UK marketing strategy, traffic acquisition, and budgetary requirements to drive marketing user acquisition and activation. This will include on- and off line marketing partnerships and targeted PR. - Content and Design: Ensure Shopping.com content, design, localization and navigation meets the needs of the UK marketplace, marketing, activation and customer support objectives. - Legal: Working with Legal, ensure Shopping.com UK complies with local legal requirements including the Data Protection Act, Financial reporting and HR requirements. Key performance Indicators: Revenue and direct contribution against aggressive growth targets of the UK business on a quarterly basis Competitive position in the UK market Creation and development of a professional, highly skilled and effective local organization Ability to work in regional and global teams Demonstrating the professional and ethical standards Shopping.com requires of all its staff Strategic understanding of the local business Participation in regional and global teams |
