To manage the Intellectual Property assets of the company under the direction of the Intellectual Property Vice President. Supervise a team of Intellectual Property Managers, develop and implement strategic and tactical policies and objectives of Japan Tobacco and JTI Brand Groups regarding the acquisition and maintenance of the company's patent, trademark and design portfolio on a worldwide basis. Interface with Corporate Management, Tokyo IP Center, Brand Groups, R&D, GSC, outside counsel and government patent & trademark offices. Maintain good working relationship with the competitors' in the tobacco industry and achieve and maintain high profile in industry and law associations to properly position the company in these groups. Manage the integration of the Intellectual Property portfolio in the event of a new business acquision.
Areas of responsibility
1- Management of the JT group of companies patent, trademark and design portfolio.
2- Supervision of a team of Intellectual Property Managers with specific responsibilities over company's Intellectual Property assets.
3- Management of Intellectual Property litigations with the support of outside counsel.
4- Interaction with industries, NGOs and governments regarding Intellectual Property, anti-counterfeiting policy and implementation.
5- Raise awareness of Intellectual Property throughout the JT group of companies and create a training and development strategy, building knowledge and improving processes and procedures accordingly. Establishing and implementing a company policy & procedure regarding JTI's Intellectual Property assets.
6- Maintain specialized knowledge of Intellectual Property law worldwide by means of legal seminars and self-education. |

Intellectual Property Law Degree with background in mechanical inventions.
Approx. 10 years in Intellectual Property, preferably in both private practise and in-house positions. Multinational business environment understanding. Managerial experience. Litigation, enforcement, Intellectual Property law knowledge on a worldwide basis. Tobacco or similar industry familiarity is a plus.
Fluent in English. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Computer-oriented. |
