Mechanical Engineer
The Cooling & Ventilation Group (CV) of the Engineering Department (EN) is responsible for designing, constructing, maintaining and operating cooling and air conditioning systems and large scale fluid distribution systems for the whole Laboratory, in particular in accelerator and Experiments underground areas. The Design Office Section (BE) within the CV Group is in charge of the design, tendering and work phase of CV installations as well as of the feasibility studies for new plants; the size of these plants can range from small systems up to large scale installations of several MW. In addition to new projects, a consolidation programme on existing installations shall be launched in the next future.

As member of the BE Section, the successful candidate shall be in charge of projects related to the consolidation programme for plants under EN-CV responsibilities. In compliance with existing internal procedures he/she will have project responsibilities including:
Feasibility studies;
Detailed design;
Sizing and cost estimates of the installation;
Tendering and adjudication process as well as work phase follow up until the commissioning and formal acceptance of the work;
Periodic reporting throughout the whole project;
Drafting of technical reports.

Experience: 5 years +
Languages: French : Speak Fluently
English : Speak / Write Fluently

University degree or equivalent in mechanical engineering, preferably in the field of hydraulics or thermodynamics.
At least five years’ experience in the design of large size cooling or ventilation installations;
Experience and knowledge of selection of related equipment and instrumentation;
At least three years’ experience in management of projects through their different phases;
Knowledge on electrical and control systems (PLC, supervision etc.) is an advantage;
Good communication skills and a natural disposition for contacts with people;
Very good knowledge of English or French; basic knowledge of the other language or an undertaking to acquire it rapidly.
