To support the management of the Portfolio Development function To drive specific functional operational and strategic initiatives To monitor the progress of Portfolio Development's activities/metrics and report as appropriate to Merck Serono's upper management
KEY TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES Support the management of Portfolio Development in matters related to strategy and operations Define and execute the Function communication strategy, including cascading of the Function strategy, planning of the annual Function event, managing corporate communications initiatives, liaising with functional communication counterparts, and providing general support to the Function Head Coordinate with Department Heads and Controlling to support the development of the Function budget and assist in ongoing budget management Develop annual budget for Management and Coordination department and manage against plan Support Function headcount planning and tracking Support individual objectives setting and performance processes for the Function and ensure cross-functional alignment Assist in the establishment of Functional annual performance objectives and the Function balanced scorecard, including annual balanced scorecard definition and target setting, ensuring alignment with Divisional objectives, and quarterly reporting. Lead Function reporting to Merck Serono's upper management on operational and strategic activities, including strategic initiative execution, risk management, pipeline progression and general status updates Contribute to Portfolio Development strategic initiatives Proactively identify operational issues within the Function and in interfaces with other Merck Serono functions and support the design and implementation of operational improvements |

Additional languages a valuable asset Min 5 years experience in operations and management fundamentals (i.e. performance management, budgeting and reporting, project management, communications, strategic planning, process implementation, etc.) Previous consultancy experience is considered beneficial Pharmaceutical/Biotech industry experience is beneficial
