Business Development Manager
The objective of this role is to maximize shareholders’ value by generating long-term growth opportunities through the successful identification and execution of mergers, acquisitions, divestitures of existing businesses, joint ventures, contract manufacturing and licensing agreements, strategic partnerships and other business development projects.
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to play a key role in the execution and partial management of various business development projects. The individual may also be tasked to support the global business by collaborating with the Corporate Strategy Group on specific internal consulting projects. Key to success in this role will be the ability to quickly acclimatize to JTI’s culture, to develop a sound knowledge of the business and its dynamics, and to build strong relationships across the business and with external stakeholders.

Areas of responsibility
1- Conduct or assist in delegated business development projects from inception through to implementation or rejection. Provide financial, commercial and strategic analysis of various business development opportunities. This includes research and quantification, participation in field visits, quantification of various options/scenarios, validation of key information with key JTI business functions and financial modeling to develop project valuations and feasibility studies. Further, the role involves preparing internal approval documents, supporting negotiations, assisting in drafting business plans and contributing to the development of deal proposals to targets and JTI senior management audience.
2- Contribute to the post-acquisition integration process and, as necessary, conduct post-investment reviews evaluating actual performance against the business case/investment objectives. Seek to develop lessons learned for continuous improvement and share them within the Business Development function.
3- Assist in optimizing the portfolio of agreements with third parties. Support the implementation of such agreements in conjunction with legal counsel.
4- Maintain active awareness of government and competitor strategies and activities throughout the operating environment to allow efficient project work, understanding of various business issues and development of counter-strategies.
5- Build a relationship networks (external and internal) to effectively execute business development projects.
Qualifications: Bachelors Degree (economics or business administration)

University graduate in economics or business administration, ideally with further business qualifications.
A minimum of 2 years relevant business experience, ideally earned internationally within the FMCG industry in the finance or business development functions, in consultancy or in an investment bank.
Fluent in English; knowledge of other languages a plus. Excellent communication and negotiation skills. Excellent PC skills (Excel, Powerpoint).
- Analytical skills and an understanding of financial statements, valuation methodologies and key legal and tax principles.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills.
- Self-starter with a focus on delivery.
- Fluency in English, knowledge of French or other language(s) a plus.
- PC literacy in MS Office, with emphasis on Excel for modeling.
