Deputy GLIMOS (Deputy Group Leader in Matter of Safety)
The ATLAS experiment (http://atlas.web.cern.ch/Atlas/)is a general purpose detector to exploit the unique physics potential of LHC new energy domain. The ATLAS collaboration consists of about 3000 members from over two hundred institutes in more than 35 countries.
The GLIMOS is responsible for all safety matters associated with the work under her charge. Given the large size of the project the ATLAS GLIMOS will be seconded by a deputy, who will effectively share some of the duties and of the activities necessary for the safety of the equipment and personnel, including visitors, during operation, maintenance and upgrade of the ATLAS experiments.

In addition of assuming responsibilities as Deputy GLIMOS in line with the typical GLIMOS safety duties, the successful candidate
•Will work closely with the ATLAS safety team on the organization and supervision of day to day activities
•Must organize the successful operation of the Level 2 safety system. This system is vital to the experiment and guarantees the last level of safety to the equipment
•Must organize, coordinate and document the maintenance of the safety systems and installations
•Will organize and supervise the installation of the future safety-related systems and in particular be involved in the design, implementation and qualification of a new Level 3 central safety system (ultimate tool for the safety of personnel)
•Must organize the training of SLIMOSes (Shift Leaders in Matters of Safety) and maintain the SLIMOS documentation and the SLIMOS desk functionalities
•Will be involved in all aspects of radiation protection optimization related to the ATLAS maintenance and upgrade projects.
The detailed nature of the involvement in the technical coordination tasks beyond safety will depend on the specific qualification of the successful candidate.
