The Business Manager for the DPE MSI enables the DPE Lead and the DPE corp. team to deliver significant value across Microsoft International through creative problem solving, cross-group collaboration, fit-for-purpose business processes and effective relationships with key stakeholders. This ‘individual contributor’ role is typically held for 2-3 years and provides a great development opportunity for high potential individuals coming from the field interested in obtaining international experience and exposure at senior levels in support of a long-term career plan within Microsoft.

Team Mission The MSI DPE team drives 11 Areas within Microsoft International and Canada - Microsoft’s field DPE organization - in achieving their business objectives by focusing on 4 main areas:
• Creating & implementing strategies and initiatives that drive accelerated adoption and growth • Creating world-class leadership capacity and capability across DPE MSI • Creating an agile, effective & efficient evangelist organization in DPE MSI • Achieving field innovation breakthroughs in challenging issues nominated by the DPE Area Leaders
Key Accountabilities The role has 6 main accountabilities (with approximate time allocations in parentheses): • Providing “Business Management” function (35%), driving and coordinating the DPE Area business rhythm on a monthly basis • Providing a leadership role for key DPE MSI-wide initiatives (25%), such as adoption, simplification, strategic initiative planning & change management • Representing DPE MSI on key company-wide initiatives that impact or benefit the DPE MSI field (15%) • Maintaining and developing relationships with key stakeholders, in Corporate, Regional, Area and Subsidiary functions (10%) • Acting as an internal “strategy consultant” (10%), developing creative, effective and cost-efficient solutions to challenging business problems in short timescales to meet the needs of the DPE business • Planning, developing and running DPE A13 community meetings and events (5%)
Key Success Criteria Success in the role is defined by: • Supporting the DPE Lead in MSI to enable him to be effective and efficient in his role • Providing effective management of the DPE MSI Areas Business Rhythm and support to the DPE field corp. team • Achieving short-term priorities and deadlines for key initiatives • Delivering successful outcomes for specified strategy projects and initiatives, against the agreed accountabilities and deliverables |

Experience in a field role, at area or subsidiary level is required to have the context to the challenges and constraints within the scope of the role. Experience in a marketing, sales, customer service or finance role, either within Microsoft or a similar company within the IT or computer software industry. Educated to degree-level with a business-related postgraduate qualification preferred. • Strong structure and process capabilities • Strong problem-solving skills • Strengths in cross-group collaboration and teamworking across multiple groups • Strong time management, project management and prioritization • Rigorous, analytical approach and ability to manage & review large quantities of data and information in order to diagnose root causes and develop valid and robust conclusions and recommendations • Cross-cultural awareness and sensitivity • Adaptability and flexibility to handle short-notice deadlines and priorities • Ability to self-manage to deadlines and be self-motivated to achieve desired outcomes |
