Engineer (Electronics)
As an Electronics engineer in the Circuit Protection Section (CP) of the Machine Protection and Electrical Integrity Group (MPE), you will:

•Provide support for the operation and further development of the LHC magnet quench detection and protection systems; maintain and improve automation software and diagnostic tools; prepare and run automated testing programmes and analyse the protection system performance data;
•As a specialist in the electronics you will join the multidisciplinary team in charge of the upgrade and development projects for high precision and high dependability quench detection electronics; build and evaluate prototypes and test-beds; contribute to the development, operation and evaluation of other machine protection systems;
•Propose and implement magnet quench detection development projects, build and evaluate prototypes; specify and select commercially available electronics when necessary;
•Provide operational support, after familiarisation with existing installations in the LHC and magnet test facilities.

•University degree or equivalent in Electronics engineering.
•Good knowledge of both analog and digital electronics and signal processing techniques.
•Good knowledge in one or several of the following fields :
•FPGA technology and programming of the logic arrays, in particular experience with complex VHDL codes, interlocks, feedback systems and their analysis.
•Design and construction of high-precision analogue and digital electronics, diagnostics of electronics boards and other laboratory work requiring development of test-beds and implementation of quality assurance methods.
•Programming of logic controllers as well as experience in electrical measuring techniques, using Labview® applications;
experience in writing diagnostic software for instrument control.
•Good communication skills in an international environment and ability to work in a multidisciplinary team.
•Good knowledge of English or French; basic knowledge of the other language or an undertaking to acquire it rapidly.
