Group Controller
Responsible for the quality and accuracy of the group consolidated financial statements of SGS group, both for internal management reporting and external reporting; responsible for the preparation of analytical reports and analysis of group results; responsible for the enforcement of reporting deadlines and group accounting policies; responsible for the worldwide coordination of the monthly financial reporting process; responsible for anticipating and ensuring compliance with new IFRS pronouncements and ensuring SGS compliance; responsible for managing the global relationship with the Group external auditors; responsible for managing the annual budgeting process; responsible for coordination with other group functions (tax, treasury, legal, insurance, IT); responsible for communication with business and regional controllers; responsible for managing “Internal control system” (ICS) compliance. Reporting to Chief Financial Officer.

Specific responsibilities
•Coordinate the monthly reporting process to ensure results are delivered both internally and externally per agreed deadlines.
•Conduct and/or supervise internal controls to ensure the quality and accuracy of the group consolidated financial statements and management reports.
•Collate, analyze and edit monthly comments from regional and business line management to ensure their accuracy and help identify any financial reporting risk / non compliance with group policies.
•Implement and enforce Group Financial Manual (GFM) accounting rules and policies.
•Monitor changes in IFRS and SIX rules; propose modification to the GFM policies to ensure SGS compliance.
•Coordinate “internal control systems” (ICS) compliance across the group to ensure group auditor “sign-off” each year per Swiss Law requirement.
•Prepare reports, analysis and presentations for senior management meetings, the Board of Directors meetings and the analyst community.
•Coordinate the global external audit engagement, ensuring timely compliance with deadlines, prompt resolution of accounting issues, monitoring of audit findings and completion of statutory audits.
•Manage all aspects of pension fund accounting for the group, including the preparation of pension disclosures in the Annual Report.
•Ensure the Annual Report is delivered on time and is compliant with all new IFRS pronouncements; work with the project team to ensure quality and accuracy of disclosures.
•Handle acquisition accounting issues (PPA) and bi-annual goodwill impairment testing.
•Manage financial reporting systems developments.
Qualifications: Bachelors Degree (Finance, Accounting or Economics)
Accounting cert. (Chartered accountant)
Experience: 7 years +

•Chartered accountant. University degree in Finance, Accounting or Economics.
•Minimum 5 years professional experience in financial reporting for a large international organization reporting under IFRS rules, and minimum 15 years of overall professional experience.
•Professional experience within one of the big four accounting firm preferable.
•Excellent knowledge of IFRS standards and practical experience at implementing new pronouncements
•Excellent knowledge of consolidation accounting and knowledge of consolidation applications (preferably Hyperion)
•Good understanding of tax and treasury related issues
•Fluent English and one other language
•Ability to analyze and interpret financial data and to prepare financial statements and management reports
•Strong knowledge of internal control systems
