Head of Perfomance and Rewards
As Head of Performance and Rewards - Merck Serono, you will lead the key account for the division Merck Serono of Merck KGaA within the Corporate HR - Rewards team. In this role you will be responsible for leading the performance management and compensation and benefits activities in Merck Serono, so as to ensure a competitive reward package is provided for employees, backed up by a strong performance-based culture. In particular you will manage the cost- and market-competitiveness of programs. You will also provide functional expertise and guidance on performance and rewards for HR and line managers.

Main Tasks & Responsibilities :
•Implement Merck global plans and policies in the Division and contribute to the development of future Corporate policies and programs
•Coordinate the annual compensation review in Merck Serono and providing expert advice to management on reward issues including market pricings
•Work with Strategic Planning and the Business Functions to foster better goal-setting and linkage between performance and rewards
•Support the implementation of the Merck performance management process
•Represent the Division in the Merck job grading committee and getting timely resolution on grading proposals
•Work closely with HR business partners and local HR to offer expert advice on reward matters and ensure what is put in place supports our desired performance culture while keeping to cost goals
•Drive to get better global alignment in the pay and performance processes operating across Merck
•Develop Divisional/functional compensation plans (eg sales incentive plans) and functional rewards programs (invention, best sales person, etc.)
•Ensure appropriate governance/ approval in the Division (eg job grading, spend plans, benefit changes)
•Lead/contribute to Corporate HR initiatives/projects
•Provide guidance and direction to 2 specialist staff and act as functional leader for performance and rewards staff in affiliates
Qualifications: Masters degree (postgraduate qualification in business or HR)
Experience: 10 years +

•Graduate education, ideally with postgraduate qualification in business or HR
•Trained in performance and rewards area (eg World at Work CCP, CBP or GRP certification or equivalent training)
•Fluent in English (written/spoken); knowledge of French and/or German would be an asset
•5-10 years' compensation and benefits experience, either within a multinational company environment, or in a consultancy position with a leading advisory firm
•Strong strategic grasp as well as ability to manage the details and so translate concepts into operationally effective programs
•Can represent function and company well and build effective partnerships across HR and with external providers
•Highly computer-literate, IT orientated and systems/process-minded
•Strong planning and project management skills
•Experienced in negotiation and in supplier management
•Excellent interpersonal skills - able to influence effectively up to senior levels both inside and outside Merck Serono and to maintain customer focus while being able to turn down demands when needed
•Good oral and written communication skills, including being able to deliver effective presentations/training
•Flexible in approach - able to work well people of different business and national backgrounds
