Metabolism and CNS Lead and Basel location Manager, Pipeline and Portfolio Planning
This position reports to the head of Pipeline and Portfolio Planning in Global Product Strategy organization. The Director will lead a team to support the Central Neuroscience and Metabolic Disease Biology Areas Disease Biology Area (DBA) and governance committees to optimize development plans by partnering with Project and Lifecycle teams and functions, and providing portfolio insight and analytics. This role will also function as site leader for the group. Responsibilities include:

* Provide portfolio context and analysis
* Support Investment options prioritization across the portfolio
* Support Integrative project, disease area and DBA strategies development aligned with company's goals
* Help teams to maximize molecule value by selecting optimal development plans and manage risk and uncertainty
* Assist functions with resource planning aligned with portfolio
* Coordinate and lead the analytic effort, to enable teams and management to make informed and timely decisions
* Represent function in cross functional initiatives and processes
* Manage a team of 1-5, including hiring and developing talent
* Perform administrative responsibilities as Basel site manager for the group
Qualifications: Masters degree

Advanced degree in the science, engineer, business or related field is required, ideally with a degree in life sciences. At least 12 years experience working in biotech or pharmaceutical related field, with roles in strategic planning and analytics is strongly desirable. Experience in market planning, strategic planning, business development, management consulting and investment banking are plus. Three or more years experience managing direct reports. Evidence of strong strategic thinking, communication, analytical, planning and organizational skills required, with demonstrated leadership capability and effective collaboration. A successful candidate is expected to have:

* Strong understanding of R&D trends, strategy and markets
* Demonstrated ability to work with executives in Research, Development and Commercial
* Ability to build cross-functional partnerships and influence without authority
* Strong analytic skills and complex problem-solving ability
* Draw conclusions from analytics, craft and deliver clear presentations to management and teams
* Experience in building and leading an internal strategy or analytics group
