EU Communications Senior Manager
The EU Marketing Team is responsible for connecting our target audiences with Yahoo!, driving more traffic from our audiences and empowering the local markets to drive engagement. The EU Marketing team is functionally driven with 5 key teams (B2C, B2B, P.R., Research, Brand) and is supported by virtual local teams in the 5 core EU Markets: UK, FR, DE, IT and ES. The team is also closely aligned with the Global Functional teams in Sunnyvale. The EU Communications team is built up of a central EU team and a PR team in each of the key Yahoo! Markets in Europe. The team currently consists of 12 full time employees.

The Senior Manager EU Communications will report to the EU Communications Director and will be a core contributor to the EU Communications and Marketing staff in terms of strategy, counsel, and direction. This person will also be a key strategic link between Europe and the Global communications programs particularly Global Product Communications.

The ideal candidate will have 7+ years of Communications experience in a variety of strategic, execution, and counseling roles with a mix of agency and in-house roles; expertise managing and leading geographically dispersed teams; and a university degree in communications, liberal arts, or an equivalent. Winning candidates will have a “can do” attitude, ability to succeed in matrixed environments, and a creative, “big picture” mind and approach.

Responsibilities:
•Support the development of regional strategy across B2B and B2C.
•Internal comms throughout the region.
•Support the regional executive comms plan including coaching and externalizing the senior team.
•Regional thought leadership
•Exec prep for tours/visits within the region
•Joint Venture PR-to-PR engagement.
•Regional PR agency and in-house summits to educate, motivate, and align broad team resources
•Support crisis communications (at the regional level and as the HQ liaison for global issues)
•Support Mergers & acquisitions (at the regional level and as the HQ liaison for global acquisitions)
•Support communications around quarterly results and financial issues
•Providing functional leadership to the locally based PR teams, ensuring that local PR strategies and plans both deliver for the needs of the local business as well as supporting the delivery of regional and global initiatives

■7-10 years PR experience gained within consumer and corporate PR.
■Cool head with a demonstrable track record of handling diverse and complex PR issues including issue management and crisis communication
■Excellent knowledge of broadcast, print and online media, ideally within a pan-European context
■Excellent leadership, negotiation, communication and presentation skills – at home operating with senior management and external stakeholders.
■First class influencing skills with a demonstrable track record of delivering in a pan-European context
■Experience of operating in a matrix organisation
■Established pan-european network of media contacts
■Culturally savvy and sensitive
■Fluent English speaker essential, ideally with knowledge of other European languages
■To be successful in any role at Yahoo! requires someone who has a sense of urgency, doesn’t take themselves too seriously, is passionate about the internet, happy to roll their sleeves up and get stuck in, game for a laugh, happy in an informal, hectic environment, who enjoys working under pressure to tight deadlines and has a high tolerance for ambiguity and change
■Good people management skills as a line manage and cross functions/teams/agencies.
■Specific experience of managing a geographically dispersed team would also be beneficial
■Having the right skills, knowledge, experience and attitude are more important than formal academic qualifications. However, we anticipate that the successful candidate will be educated to degree level
