TradeNet Operations Manager
We are implementing a major IT solution in the domain of E-Government representing a multi million dollar investment in an African country. We are looking for an experienced Project Manager who can autonomously bring to fruition this solution and turn it into a sustainable business. The ideal person has experience in developing and deploying software solutions, has excellent knowledge in trade and supply chains, has experience in working in developing countries. Whilst the core of the project is IT-based, this project has many non-IT elements and the candidate should also feel at ease handling non IT challenges. Additionally, this person is able and willing to relocate rapidly and is adaptable. In return, we have on offer an exciting and rewarding project in a rapidly developing environment where this person will have a pivotal role in managing and developing a startup team, working with local partners to radically improve the trade environment of that country.

Primary Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the implementation of the solution to the point where the full scope has been delivered and product is fully operational.
- In collaboration with Product Manager, manage timelines and budget.
- Manage relations with partners and stakeholders in order to keep them informed on project progress and take note of their comments, concerns and suggestions.
- Interface with SGS Management to ensure project progress is effectively monitored and that any deviation from the project plan can be handled rapidly
- Ensure contractual obligations are adhered to.
- Prepare transition of local management from Project Manager to General Manager when project is close to completion.

Specific responsibilities
- Build detailed Project Plan with Product Manager and ensure this is adhered to.
- Build and manage the local team which will execute the tasks set in the Project Plan.
- Monitor the expansion of the team structure over time to ensure this is done smoothly and effectively
- Anticipate deviations to Project Plan and decide (with participation of Product Manager) on measures to take
- Liaise with software developer to ensure developer delivers in line with Master project plan and agreed specifications
- Identify and then liaise with network and infrastructure subcontractors
- Establish and deliver training programme
- Regular reporting on project progress
Qualifications: Bachelors Degree (Information Technology, Engineering or similar)
Experience: 10 years +
Languages: French : Speak / Write Fluently
English : Speak / Write Fluently
Portuguese : Speak Well

- University degree, either in Information Technology, Engineering or similar with additional education in business management, or in Business with additional education in the area of Information Technology.
- Strong Project Management experience.
- Strong “Customer Service Exposure” experience.
- Fluent in English, French and/or Portuguese ( additional languages are welcome)
- 5 – 10 years of professional experience.
- Business experience in the geographical region of the project

- Ability to manage, coordinate and lead a team towards a common goal.
- Ability to interact with all levels of management, third-party providers, clients, internal & external customers.
- Ability to work autonomously and to plan/coordinate several activities simultaneously
- Technical knowledge and experience in related field and in using management methods and tools
- Ability to realize business opportunities which are in conformity to the business strategy
- Business and result oriented with related technical know-how. Competitive and profit-driven.
- Good communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills.
- Acts quickly and decisively; able to make tough calls.
- Works well under pressure, challenges status quo.
