By 2020, healthy, recovering and resilient marine ecosystems that provide improved food security for the planet and improved livelihoods for dependent communities are achieved through responsible management and trade in four key fishery groups (whitefish, tuna, shrimp and forage fisheries).
Lead, manage, coordinate the WWF Network SFNI priority tuna issues (50%) and fundraise for the SFNI (40%).
- Provide cross-cutting fisheries expertise and management of large scale fisheries conservation programmes to ensure the direction and quality of the SFNI has the maximum chance of delivering its tuna objectives. This includes developing and implementing a workplan for the SFNI tuna strategy with the network and other NIs (CT, CEA, MTNI). - Provide expertise in the management of, and support to, diverse teams (both culturally and geographically) to ensure optimal implementation and execution of the SFNI tuna workplan. - Strategically serve, manage and coordinate Network efforts to reduce major fishing footprint threats like overfishing and bycatch in tuna fisheries in close cooperation with the SFNI’s Enabling Team, the CTNI, CEANI and the relevant LAC offices. - Identify priority tuna policy issues and lead network processes to address them. - Ensure the network is represented in relevant external fora internationally especially fisheries governance, tuna management and industry engagement. - Identify potential funding sources and fundraise for tuna conservation and more broadly as appropriate for the NI. - Develop and deliver fundraising proposals and effectively liaise with funders, in conjunction with the relevant network development/fundraising teams.
