Lab Head Non-Clinical Biosample Repository
RNCB is a Roche-wide cell bank for cell cultures and plasmids used and generated in research. The RNCB orders externally available cell lines for all research labs in Basel, grows and maintains stock cultures and distributes the cells in constant quality to labs. It exchanges stock cultures with all other Roche sites as needed. Hybridomas and recombinant cell lines generated in-house are collected and stored in RNCB. Stock cultures are generated and tested for all cell lines entered to the RNCB. A database that is online available to all scientists at Roche is maintained with all available information on each cell line. Introduction of lab-automation is planned to facilitate the work. Technologies and procedures for stock cultures are continuously improved and shared in the international community.
