Global Indirect Tax Planning
The Global Tax and Customs (GTC) indirect tax team provides value to Cisco by designing indirect tax efficient models for entering new markets, entering new countries, global restructuring, changing manufacturing and logistics models, new product offerings and mergers & acquisitions. We take pride in implementing e-solutions where possible. To these ends Cisco are looking to engage new hires who understand indirect tax compliance but who also share in Cisco’s vision that international indirect tax solutions will play an increasing role in the forward planning and strategic decision-making of business development. This is especially so in an economic environment where governments increasingly rely on income derived from indirect taxes.

Besides the planning work of the indirect tax team, we partner with the finance organization to develop and implement processes to assure compliance with local legislation. The actual compliance work, including the filing of the indirect tax declarations, is looked after by the Cisco finance organization. The indirect tax team thus closely partners with the Finance Shared Service Centers and country finance teams.

The Cisco indirect tax team is a true international team, covering Cisco's indirect tax position in over 100 countries with a team of 10 employees based in 5 different locations. Besides the more central teams based in Amsterdam, The Netherlands and Singapore we have individual members based in key locations, London, the UK, Rolle –near Lausanne-, Switzerland and Miami, Florida. To efficiently work together and share best practices between regions, we make use of the latest technologies as Telepresence and internet solutions. The main focus of the team is tax research and planning. Further we support the Finance organization in assuring indirect tax compliance.

Cisco has progressive people policies and it encourages employee development and planned job rotations. Recently some members of the indirect tax team have rotated to new opportunities within Cisco, such as career moves to the Cisco direct tax team, international assignments, supporting the Cisco Capital organization and focusing on special projects. These changes have opened up some very exciting positions as well as the lead role for the international indirect tax team. Preferred locations for these roles are Amsterdam, The Netherlands, London, the UK, Rolle –near Lausanne-, Switzerland and Singapore

- Senior Manager International Indirect Tax, lead role for the international indirect tax team covering all non-US indirect tax matters, around 15 years of relevant experience;

- VAT Manager European Markets team, focus on partnering with the Finance organization, around 3 years of relevant experience;

- VAT Manager Asia Pacific team, around 5 years of relevant experience;

- VAT Manager European Markets team, focus on supporting manufacturing and logistics operations, around 6 years of relevant experience;

- VAT Manager, focus on Cisco’s key initiative in restructuring our sales model globally, around 5 years of relevant experience
